Many of you are considering a hair transplant. If a hair follicle is narrowed by DHT long enough, it loses its ability to grow hair. Micro-follicular hair transplant surgery involves removing hair follicles that are not growing hair, and replacing them with hair-growing follicles from another part of the body. OstriGrow gives you the chance to determine which follicles are capable of growing hair, and which are not. If the follicles grow hair after using OstriGrow, they do not need to be removed and replaced. This means you may be able to avoid surgery altogether! We encourage you to try OstriGrow for three months to see if you can reactivate your hair follicles before getting a transplant.

We get many questions on using OstriGrow in combination with shampoos and conditioners that are targeted to improving hair growth. OstriGrow expands the follicles that have been narrowed by DHT. The widening will allow hair to grow naturally, but it will not change the way hair is formed in the follicle. Many shampoos and conditioners claim improvement of hair growth. We can’t comment on the quality and efficacy of any of those products. We can say that using them in combination with OstriGrow could potentially improve hair growth. However, you should never apply these products before OstriGrow is applied. That could block the effect of the OstriGrow.

Dr. Yasuhiro Tsukamoto, our co-founder, realized that neutralizing the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and 5-α reductase, the enzyme promoting it, could have great benefits in restoring hair growth. He proceeded to inoculate ostrich hens with DHT and 5-α reductase, and they began producing antibodies targeting these substances. He procured specially bred hairless mice, and tested the topical application of the antibodies. The results were dramatic, with all of the mice growing hair. Dr. Tsukamoto knew he had something very promising and proceeded to human trials. Now we are pleased that OstriGrow is helping people all over the US start to regrow their hair.

People often ask us if they can use a topically-applied minoxidil-based product along with OstriGrow. Minoxidil is absorbed through the scalp. It works by widening the capillaries that feed blood to the follicles for hair growth. The result is that hair can be formed faster at the root of the follicle. It can’t widen a narrowed follicle that constrains the hair from breaking through and emerging from the follicle the way that OstriGrow does.

It is certainly possible for OstriGrow and minoxidil to work together since they have different effects. However, it is important that applications of the two products are separated in time. The minoxidil product is applied twice a day and left on the scalp for a period of time, after which it must be rinsed off.

You would need to wash it before applying OstriGrow, because if the minoxidil was still on the scalp, OstriGrow will not be able to get through to the follicles. A better alternative would be to apply the OstriGrow before the minoxidil. It would not need to be washed out, since excess liquid on the scalp will simply evaporate.

We believe that OstriGrow alone will provide the growth that you are looking for and encourage users to try it on its own, without minoxidil.

Mammals cannot produce antibodies to DHT and 5-α reductase, the substances causing male and female pattern baldness, because these substances are not treated as “foreign.” They don’t stimulate an immune reaction in mammals. Since they are foreign to birds, they do stimulate the formation of antibodies. Dr. Yasuhiro Tsukamoto, our co-founder, compared antibody production among chickens, quail, and ostriches. Ostrich antibodies were four times stronger than those produced by chickens and quail. They are also produced in much higher quantities in the ostrich egg yolks. Ostrich antibodies were our clear choice for OstriGrow.

Several people have asked about the antibodies in OstriGrow and how we produce them. The short answer is that we don’t produce them, ostriches do. Ostriches have what is regarded as the most powerful immune system on the planet. Hen ostriches develop immunity to DHT and the enzyme that promotes its formation. The hens transfer the resulting antibodies into the yolks of their eggs, and we process the egg yolks to isolate the antibodies. The end result is a natural product that totally neutralizes DHT in the follicles, permitting hair growth to go back to normal.

Because hair grows slowly, it can be difficult to evaluate the progress of your hair growth journey without before and after photos. To best evaluate your progress, we suggest you take photos before you start using OstriGrow and then again every month. Try to take the photos from the same angle and with the same lighting. Remember that hair growth in the follicle starts below the surface of the scalp, so it may take some time for the new hair to emerge.

A number of OstriGrow users are reporting an increase in hair thickness. This makes sense. As the follicle narrows due to DHT, hair growth continues. However, hair gets thinner because the “tube” that it is growing in gets narrower and narrower. As the narrowing progresses, the follicle can only produce vellus hair, or “peach fuzz.” Eventually, the follicle becomes so narrow that hair cannot grow at all. Use of OstriGrow widens the follicle and lets hair growth return to “normal.”

One of the keys to achieving hair growth is to make sure the OstriGrow enters your hair follicles to neutralize the DHT.

Excess product simply evaporates, so there is no need to spray a lot of product. It works better if you spray a small amount onto the areas where you want to regrow hair, and then rub it lightly over the area.
